“I thought my music season was over” – Banky W reveals the simple prayer he made to God as he breaks musical hiatus (Video)

Nigerian singer-turned-cleric Bankole Wellington, better known as Banky W, has returned to the music industry. The singer, who took a break from music years back, has made a comeback with a gospel song. He and Victor Thompson teamed up on a song, Super Power, set for release on November 6th.

Speaking about it on his social media page, he said he thought his music season was over, but apparently God had other plans.

Banky said he wasn’t planning to record music again anytime soon, but when ideas started coming, he got on his knees and made a simple prayer to God; then he got a DM from Victor Thompson to feature on his song.

“I thought my music season was over. Apparently, God had other plans.
I wasn’t planning to record music again anytime soon. That ship had sailed. Or so I thought.
But then the ideas started coming. Lyrics. Melodies. A persistent nudge I couldn’t shake.
I resisted it for a while.
I mean, I’ve been out of the music business for years. Would anyone even care? Where would I start? Wasn’t that chapter of my life already closed?
Eventually, I got on my knees and prayed a simple prayer:
Lord, I feel like I have unfinished business with music. You gave me this gift, and I want to give back to You. I don’t know how, and I don’t know where to start. But if You give me the songs to sing, I’ll sing them.
Three weeks later, I got a DM from The Victor Thompson. Yes, that Victor Thompson, the man with the golden voice who gave us “This Year”.
He said, “Bro, I’m not sure if you’re up for it, but I feel very strongly that I’m supposed to do a song with you
Me: Okay, Lord. Message received.
That song became his brand new single, “Super Power”.
For me, this is so much more than a collaboration. It’s an act of obedience. A reminder that God’s timing doesn’t have to make sense to us, and that a chapter we think is closed might just be getting rewritten.
I still don’t know how to promote music in this new era, but hey, it’s His song anyway.
My job is to trust and obey. The rest is up to Him.
And this one is for You.
Especially if you’ve been trying your hardest, giving your all, and still coming up short. If you’re tired, overwhelmed, or running on empty, remember: where your strength ends, His begins. You don’t have to do it all in your own power. Lean on Him”.
