Afrobeats star Davido has predicted that a joint tour with fellow Nigerian singer Wizkid would sell out venues worldwide, saying he would charge $500,000 per show for the proposed tour. The singer, whose real name is David Adeleke, made the remarks during an appearance on the IONWANNATALK show, where he discussed the possibility of collaborating with Wizkid on music and embarking on a joint tour.
While expressing uncertainty about whether a song featuring both artists would become a hit, Davido said their combined star power would make a joint tour a major commercial success.
“If Wizkid and I do a song together, I don’t know if it will pop because when D’banj and 2Baba did a record together, it didn’t really pop,” he said.
However, the singer expressed confidence in their ability to attract large audiences if they decided to tour together.
“If we tour together, I’ll ask for $500,000 per show because I know every venue will sell out,” Davido added.
The Unavailable crooner also revealed that he and Wizkid had not recorded a song together in about 10 years, clarifying that their lack of collaboration was not necessarily because they could not work together.
According to Davido, he and Wizkid had not been in the same mental space to make music together, despite their status as two of Africa’s biggest Afrobeats stars.
He also acknowledged differing opinions about their longstanding rivalry, with some believing their competition had contributed to their individual success, while others think a collaboration could further boost their careers.
Davido further spoke about the importance of maturity in moving past disagreements, suggesting that people should be willing to acknowledge when their feelings about a situation have changed.
“I felt that way at some point but not anymore, and it takes a great man to do that,” he said.
His comments have renewed conversations about the possibility of a joint project between the two singers, whose fans have long anticipated a collaboration between the Afrobeats heavyweights.
