A viral voice note allegedly recorded by a neighbour of late gospel singer Toluwanisings has raised fresh questions about the circumstances surrounding his death, with the speaker disputing the account previously given by the singer’s personal assistant.
Toluwanisings, whose real name was Olayemi Bayonile Sodiq Bolaji, died on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
In the circulating voice note, an anonymous speaker claiming to be the singer’s neighbour alleged that Toluwanisings was already dead inside his house before he was brought outside. The claim contradicts the account that the singer was rushed to several hospitals after slumping.
The singer’s personal assistant, Babadunni Olami, had earlier disclosed that Toluwanisings slumped on October 14 and was taken to between seven and eight hospitals in Ibadan. According to him, the hospitals allegedly rejected him or could not admit him because of a doctors’ strike and other challenges.
However, the alleged neighbour’s account has added another layer to the growing controversy surrounding the gospel singer’s death. The claims contained in the voice note have not been independently verified.
The speaker also questioned the roles played by the singer’s wife and manager before his death, alleging that people living in the area, including landlords, were aware of what he described as a questionable relationship between them. The allegations remain unsubstantiated.
The anonymous speaker further claimed that Toluwanisings had recently purchased land worth ₦55 million along Airport Road in Ibadan on Tuesday, October 13, a day before his death.
The claim has added to the questions being raised online about the singer’s activities shortly before he died. However, no independent evidence has been provided to establish the details of the alleged land purchase or its relevance to his death.
Amid the conflicting accounts, rumours and a separate disagreement over the singer’s burial arrangements, Toluwanisings’ uncle has reportedly called for an impartial investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.
The family is said to prefer that the singer be buried at his residence or beside his late mother at the family house in Ikirun, Osun State. His wife, however, reportedly wants him buried in a cemetery or at a church burial ground.
The disagreement has further complicated preparations for the singer’s final rites, as questions surrounding his death continue to generate public attention.
While the viral voice note has sparked fresh discussions, the allegations made by the unidentified speaker should not be treated as established facts without independent verification. An impartial investigation could help clarify the conflicting accounts and provide answers to the questions raised by the singer’s family and the public.
