‘He used to throw bread to us like animals’: Sat Guru Maharaj Ji alleged ex-follower gets social media abuzz with what members go through

A man claiming to be a former member of Sat Guru Maharaj Ji’s religious following recently sparked conversation online after making disturbing allegations about the practices allegedly carried out inside the cleric’s camp.

The man made the claims in a video circulating on Instagram on Thursday, November 5, 2026, where he spoke about his alleged experiences while he was a member of the group.

According to him, Sat Guru Maharaj Ji does not identify with Christianity or Islam but reportedly describes himself as the “present living perfect master.”

He further alleged that the cleric presents himself as God who has come to visit the earth, claiming that pictures displayed within the camp place his image above those of other religious figures.

The former follower also made claims about some of the activities members were allegedly expected to participate in while at the camp.He claimed that followers were instructed to bow before flowers planted within the premises, sing and pray to them, even when the cleric was not around. He further alleged that members were expected to eat the flowers as part of the practices.

Speaking about gatherings at the camp, the man claimed that Maharaj Ji would throw bread and puff-puff into the crowd, prompting followers to scramble for the food.

He also alleged that the cleric sometimes removed flowers worn around his neck and threw them into the crowd, where members would pick them up and eat them.

Recounting the alleged experience, he said, “He will be throwing bread and puff-puff to us like animals; he will remove the flowers on his neck and throw them to us and we will collect it and start eating it.”

The allegations have attracted attention on social media, with some Nigerians expressing concern over the practices described in the video.

However, Sat Guru Maharaj Ji has yet to publicly respond to the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
